Wildcat World War II Military Unit Insignia
Description
(Disney, 1940s)) An early version of the wildcat unit insignia for the 503rd Parachute Infantry
Regiment. As part of their contribution to the war effort, Disney artists created around 1,200 insignias for the U.S. military. The logos were extremely popular with the troops, offering levity and a reminder of home during difficult situations in faraway theaters of combat. Disney eventually had to dedicate five artists to the task of keeping up with requests for custom designs. The embroidered unit insignia features a wildcat with a parachute on a blue felt background.
Size: 16 x 19
